Duration: c. 7’12”

“The idea for Sonatina Festivo came about after playing much flute repertoire in my previous workplace.

As the title suggests, this sonatina in three movements describes various moods during the festive season. The first movement depicts a lively and jovial atmosphere, with lots of dancing and merry-making. The second movement depicts a lonely person drowning his sorrows in alcohol, thinking of home. The ostinato B flat represents falling snow. The last movement is a mix-meter piece, depicting Middle Eastern natives in colourful costumes dancing in the town square.”

Sonatina Festivo was premiered by flautist, Andy Koh Pek Song, and the composer on Sunday, 1st December 2019, at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Singapore.

Duration is approximately 7 minutes.
